Han Tae Song, Permanent Representative of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to the United Nations Office at Geneva and Other International Organizations in Switzerland delivered a statement categorically rejecting the “human rights resolution” tabled by the European Union at the ongoing 46th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council on March 23.

The statement reads as follows:

The DPRK delegation categorically rejects the “draft resolution on the situation of human rights in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea” submitted to the current session, since it is a document of political conspiracy which has nothing to do with the genuine protection and promotion of human rights like other previous resolutions forcibly adopted in the past.

Congratulatory Message to Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

Ri Son Gwon, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, sent a congratulatory message to Najla Mohamed Al Manqoush on March 18 upon her appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the State of Libya.

In the message, he wished the Libyan Minister success in her work, expressing belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would invariably develop.

Greetings to Namibian Minister of International Relations and Cooperation

Ri Son Gwon, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), sent a message of greetings to Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of Namibia, on March 22 on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the DPRK and the Republic of Namibia.

In the message, he mentioned that, for the past 31 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have steadily developed their friendly and cooperative relations on the principles of mutual respect of sovereignty, equality and mutual benefits and strengthened mutual support and cooperation in the international arena including the United Nations.

He wished the Deputy Prime Minister success in the work for the development of the country’s external relations, expressing belief that the two countries would more closely cooperate with each other to develop their traditional relations of friendship and cooperation.

Syrian Vice Foreign Minister Expresses Readiness to Develop Relations with DPRK

Mun Jong Nam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to the Syrian Arab Republic, met and had a talk with Bashar Al Jaafari, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic, on March 18.

The Vice Minister wished the government and people of the DPRK great successes in their efforts to implement the decisions of the 8th Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the first year’s tasks of the new five-year plan for the national economic development under the wise leadership of His Excellency Kim Jong Un.

He also expressed readiness to further strengthen the historical relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries forged by the preceding leaders in all fields and to support each other and cooperate more closely in the UN and other international arena.

DPRK Permanent Representative to UN Office at Geneva Delivers Statement at 46th Session of UNHRC

Han Tae Song, Permanent Representative of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to the United Nations Office at Geneva and Other International Organizations in Switzerland delivered a statement at the ongoing 46th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council on March 12.

At the General Debate on Item 4 “Human rights situations that require the Council’s attention”, the Permanent Representative referred to the fact that the Human Rights Council was established to serve as a forum for dialogue where all human rights issues are to be addressed in a fair and equal manner without any distinction.
