DPRK Ambassador Meets Ugandan Deputy Prime Minister

Jong Tong Hak, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea(DPRK) to the Republic of Uganda met Kirunda Kivejinja, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda on February 19.

Both sides discussed issues on further expanding and developing the bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation in the interests of the peoples of two countries.

Russian Ambassador, Military Attaché Host Reception

Alexandr Matsegora, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the DPRK, and Alexei Bartusov, military attaché of the Russian embassy, hosted a reception at the Taedonggang Diplomatic Club on Friday on the occasion of the Day of Defenders of the Motherland.

Invited to the reception were Army Col. General Kim Hyong Ryong, vice- minister of the People’s Armed Forces, generals and officers of the Korean People’s Army, officials concerned and diplomatic envoys and military attaches of foreign embassies here and the UN resident coordinator in the DPRK.

Present there were staff members of the Russian embassy.

Iranian Embassy Hosts Reception

The embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran here arranged a reception on Thursday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il (Day of the Shining Star).

Invited to the reception were Ri Su Yong, member of the Political Bureau and vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Sin Hong Chol, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Kim Ik Song, general director of the General Bureau for Affairs with Diplomatic Corps, and officials concerned.

Present there were Seyed Mohsen Emadi, Iranian ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the DPRK, and members of his embassy.

Togolese President on Friendly Relations with DPRK

Jon Tong Chol, DPRK ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Togo presented his credentials to Faure Essozimna Gnassingbe̒, president of the Republic of Togo, on February 12.

The president said the cornerstone of friendly relations between Togo and the DPRK was laid by President Kim Il Sung and former Togolese President Gnassingbe̒ Eyade̒ma and that the friendly relations are invariably developing on good terms.

Noting that the DPRK had rendered lots of cooperation to Togo in the past, the president hoped the friendly relations between the two countries forged by the preceding leaders would develop more vigorously.
