DPRK Foreign Ministry Director General Meets Angolan Dignitaries

Ho Yong Bok, director general for Africa, Arab and Latin America of the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK, and his party visited the Republic of Angola recently.

During the visit, Ho made courtesy calls on the acting minister for External Relations who is secretary of State of the Ministry and the secretary of External Relations of the Angola People’s Liberation Movement who is member of the Political Committee of its Central Committee. He also separately met and had talks with the director for Asia and Oceania and the director for Multilateral Relations of the Ministry of External Relations.

At the visits and the talks, the director general reaffirmed the consistent stand of the DPRK to further expand and develop the historical and traditional relations of support and solidarity existing between the two parties and the two countries.

DPRK Will Continue to Bolster up National Defence: DPRK Delegation at Geneva Disarmament Conference

The DPRK delegation declared the following stand on the recent successful test-fire of the new ground-to-sea cruise rocket at a plenary meeting of the second session of the Geneva Disarmament Conference on June 13:

Our measures for bolstering up the capabilities for national defence are the exercise of the legitimate right to protect destiny and sovereignty of the nation and peace in the region in the face of the U.S. decades-long hostile policy toward the DPRK and nuclear threats and blackmail.

This is the legitimate right of a sovereign state which no one can fault.

DPRK Delegation Head’s Speech at Int’l Meeting Concerning Rights of Persons with Disabilities

Ambassador Ri Hung Sik of the DPRK Foreign Ministry who is heading the DPRK delegation on June 13 made a speech at the 10th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities now under way in New York.

Referring to the policy and efforts of the DPRK government for promoting the human rights and protecting rights of persons with disabilities, the ambassador said:

The DPRK is a socialist state centered on the popular masses where human being is placed at the center of everything and everything of the society serves people. It is the supreme principle of the state activities to give priority to the people’s interests and convenience and the struggle to this end is mandatory by the constitution.

DPRK Foreign Ministry Ambassador Meets UN Special Rapporteur

Ri Hung Sik, ambassador of the DPRK Foreign Ministry, met Catalina Devandas Aguilar, UN special rapporteur on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, at the building of the United Nations on June 12. Ri is staying in New York to attend the 10th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities from June 13 to 15.

In their talks the ambassador and the special rapporteur reached a consensus on the fact that the special rapporteur’s visit to the DPRK early in May was a starting point of establishing the cooperative relations between the DPRK and international bodies concerning the rights of persons with disabilities, and exchanged their opinions on the issues of furthering dialogue and cooperation for the promotion of genuine human rights including the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities.

The ambassador said all the people of the DPRK including persons with disabilities are enjoying genuine human rights thanks to respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un‘s politics of loving care for the people and younger generation, reiterating the will of the DPRK to sincerely implement the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Director General of DPRK Foreign Ministry Visits Equatorial Guinea

Ho Yong Bok, director-general of the DPRK Foreign Ministry, and his party recently visited the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.

During the visit, the director general paid courtesy calls on the acting minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation who is its secretary of State, and on the minister of Agriculture, Stockbreeding and Food.

He also met and had talks with the vice-minister of Health and Social Welfare and the director-general for Asia and Pacific of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
