African Union Leader Mentions Improved Relations with DPRK

Sim Tong Guk, Permanent Representative of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to the African Union, presented his credentials to Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairman of the African Union Commission, on October 8.

Saying that the relations between the DPRK and the African Union have long historical tradition, the Chairman expressed his gratitude to the DPRK for having rendered material and moral support to African countries in their struggle for national liberation in the past.

Stating his will to make efforts to develop the relations with the DPRK, the Chairman extended warm felicitations to the Korean people celebrating the 75th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

Principled Stand of DPRK Government on Terrorism Clearly Stated

The DPRK representative clearly stated the principled stand of the DPRK government on terrorism when discussing the agenda item on “Measures to Eliminate International Terrorism” at the 6th Committee of the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly on October 6.

Now, terrorism, which destroys global peace and security and threatens the sovereignty of countries, comes to be one of the biggest challenges facing the world, he said.

He noted that the reality demands more urgently than ever before that all the countries take a proper view of the source of terrorism and seriously seek effective measures against it.

Jon Tong Chol, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to the Federal Republic of Nigeria met on September 30 with Mfawa Abam, Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and delivered a basket of flowers to be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria in the name of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of independence of Nigeria.

Expressing his deep gratitude on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the basket of flowers sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of independence of Nigeria, he underlined the hope that the relations between the fraternal two countries would continue to develop on good terms.
