Symposium Marks Malaria Day in DPRK

A symposium took place at the Grand People’s Study House on Wednesday on the occasion of Malaria Day.

Attending it were officials of the Ministry of Public Health and relevant units and members of missions of international organizations including the United Nations resident coordinator and concurrently UNDP resident representative and the acting representative of the WHO and staff members of foreign embassies here.

The key speakers said that all the countries should further intensify the activities of preventing and controlling malaria in order to attain the goal of the global technical strategy from 2016 to 2030 which was made public at the WHO assembly.

Noting that the struggle of preventing malaria takes a long time and needs the positive participation of the masses and social support and cooperation, they stressed the need to continue providing the better living conditions and hygienic cultured environment for health of human being so as to prevent the outbreak of malaria cases.

Then speeches were made.

The speakers referred to the achievements made in the DPRK’s activities for controlling malaria in 2017 and to the action program for this year.

The participants watched a video on the prevention of malaria.

On the same day, the participants saw the activities of health workers for the prevention of malaria in Wonchon-ri, Taedong County, South Phyongan Province.

Meanwhile, information activities for the prevention of malaria were conducted at the hygienic information halls and preventive and curative medical care institutions in all provinces.
